The Cow Herd: The Happy Hills Angus herd of 30 producing females includes several daughters of the Happy Hills donors Thomas Lucy 3750 and Thomas Erica 1394. Sires of the females at Happy Hills include New Design 878, BC Matrix, BCC Bushwacker, New Design 208, Connealy Lead On, SAV Final Answer and TC Grid Topper. All females currently are bred to SAV Bismarck.
The Mission: To produce functional cattle with eye-appeal, to eliminate extremes and to produce a product that can perform on moderate inputs. Our emphasis: (1) phenotype (2) disposition (3) milking ability including udder shape and teat size (4) calving ease (5) balanced EPD’s and $ values.
Marketing: Only the very top bull calves are kept as bulls and these are sold at weaning to a large, local, purebred producer to be developed and sold through their bull sales. Most of our best females are kept as replacements. Each year, we will be selling a few of our best females at the Georgia Beef Expo and at other Georgia Angus Association sponsored sales. We plan to produce a few show prospect steers and heifers that will be marketed through the Georgia Club Calf Producers sponsored sales.

The Mission: To produce outcross, appendix free cattle that are sound, functional, with low to moderate birth weight taking the worry out of calving difficulty. Much like the Angus goals, emphasis on producing Shorthorns will be: (1) phenotype (2) disposition (3) milking ability including udder shape and teat size
(4) calving ease (5) balanced EPD’s.
Marketing: At the 2010 Great Revival Shorthorn Sale in Michigan, we will be selling a future embryo flush in BAR JS RC Kendra 0223 plus a full embryo sister to the Denver Champion TM Gus 36S that is due September 8, 2010. Our intention is to use bulls that can produce low birth weight calves yet can compete in the junior shows. Calves will be marketed in both Kansas and Georgia prospect show calf auctions. We will be competing at the Georgia National Fair in Perry, Georgia, Fall of 2010 and will have a few top calves for sale at the Fair.
