Reidsville, NC
Sale Manager:  American Angus Hall of Fame

Auctioneer:  Col. Mike Jones

Some folks think 1st Saturday in May is Derby Day.  We know it as Spring Fever Day and what a day it promises to be as the 31st annual North Carolina Spring Fever Angus Sale promises to be as good (maybe better) than ever before with 66 featured Angus female lots!  This year’s offering will consist of the ever popular cow/calf pairs, elite bred heifers, open heifers, bred cows and a really exciting pregnancy.  There will be daughters of and cows bred to the following popular sires:  AAR Ten X, EXAR Upshot, Sitz Upward 307R, SAV Net Worth, SAV Density, SAV Final Answer, SydGen CC&7, Connealy Impression, Connealy Final Product, Hoover Dam, CRA Bextor and many more.  For the first time, several heifers have been Genomic tested with Zoetis HD50K information available sale day. I am tempted in this writing to point out several featured, but would be accused of leaving someone out, so I encourage you to get a catalog and spend a few minutes studying the offering.  You will be impressed!  You can order a sale catalog thru this website or contact The Hall 816-532-0811, Mike Jones 706-773-3612 or Sale Chairman Mark Wilburn 336-953-0521 for more information.  This auction is a function of the North Carolina Angus Association.

McCabe Genetics 21st Annual Production Sale
At The Farm Near Elk City, Kansas
Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 12:00 Noon
Sale Manager:  Rance Long
Auctioneers:  Jerry Lehman and Justin Stout
Marketing Agent:  Mike Jones

McCabe Genetics is an established program noted for offering Angus and Hereford bulls in volume as well as high quality commercial replacement females.  The bulls are produced and developed to ensure longevity, sound feet and legs, harder conditioned and ready for service in the real world.  These bulls have been on a high roughage diet from day one and developed slowly.   They will not be in the heavy condition many of you are accustomed to looking at and their individual performance and sale days weights will not be extreme.  But, this is by design and has proven to enhance the breeding life and soundness of bulls from this program from past auctions.  The Angus and Hereford breed’s top sires are represented thru sons of sires like SAV Iron Mountain, Hoover Dam, AAR TenX, SAV Pioneer, SAV Bismarck, Connealy Consensus, HH Advance 8203, HH Advance 9144, HH Advance 5212, L1 Domino 03571 and other top sires.  Large sire groups will be offered including several sons of SAV Final Answer 0035 that will lead off the auction.  Over 200 Angus bulls will be followed by some 50 breeding age Horned Hereford bulls that are sure to please including three big, stout full two year old bulls.  Over 500 commercial females will sell!  All commercial females will sell on video and they will not be at the sale site.  I encourage you to contact Randy McCabe 620-332-4244 prior to the auction to discuss these females.  Approximately 310 first calf heifer pairs will be selling.  Grass time is here, the market is at unprecedented levels.  Replacement females are difficult to find and here is a great source to acquire known genetics in superior young females in production.  Also selling will be 50 three year old pairs.  130 fall bred heifers will be included in the sale offering.  Many of these are black baldy heifers as well as both Red and Black Angus.  All these heifers will be bred to McCabe Genetics bulls.  Over 120 black, black baldy and red baldy heifers also will be selling.  This is an auction for the serious minded cattleman ready to meet the challenges of the beef cattle industry and ready to use genetically enhanced, real world bulls and replacement females to meet the demands of the future.  You will enjoy talking to Randy McCabe about this sale offering as he is very personable and looks forward to discussing the sale cattle with you and helping you with your breeding needs.  I am pleased to be assisting Randy with the marketing of his cattle and would be pleased to discuss the cattle with you 706-773-3612.  You can order a catalog thru this web site, or contact Randy 620-332-4244, Flinton McCabe 620-332-4498, Ethan McCabe 620-636-0545 or sale manager Rance Long 918-510-3464.

The strength of the cattle market was definitely reflected in the results of the bull demand and prices at this 35th Annual Event as a packed house of nearly 500 cattlemen bid rapidly to own an outstanding offering of senior and junior bulls that had been developed on the Tim Sutphin, Hillwinds Farm near Wytheville, Virginia.  The bulls had been fed a silage based ration and were in super condition, not fat, hard, sound and ready for service.  Southwest Virginia is home to some of the best grassland in the east as the lower Shenandoah Valley hills are covered with commercial cow/calf operations and numerous stocker backgrounding programs.  This area has always enjoyed a strong bull market but this year was exceptional.  The buzz word of the day was the strong cattle market and seemed that each person there had a story about selling record priced calves, yearlings and cull cows and cull bulls.

Carolina's "Full House" Multi Breed Female Sale
Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 12:00 Noon
T. Ed Garrison Arena, Celmson, South Carolina

Twenty-one Shorthorn, Gelbvieh and Simmental breeders are consigning 85 females to the inaugural Carolina’s “Full House” Multi-Breed Female Sale to be held at the T. Ed Garrison Arena, Clemson University on Saturday, May 11.  By putting these breeds together, we are able to offer enough numbers to satisfy both consignor and buyer whereas a stand alone auction of these breeds was difficult to conduct given the fixed costs involved with conducting the auction.  You can expect a quality offering in each breed selling.  Especially exciting will be the bred heifer division as each breed is stacked with females that will contribute as superior brood cows for years to come.  The Simmental breed will be selling several females without papers but are of high quality and mostly A.I. sired and/or A.I. bred.  Watch for top Gelbvieh cow/calf pairs as well as cow/calf pairs from the Shorthorn and Simmental consignors.  A special JACKPOT HEIFER division will feature approximately 8 show prospect heifers with each breed represented.  These heifers will be eligible to compete in junior shows throughout the coming show season and will compete at the 2013 SC Junior Beef Roundup with every entry winning a cash award.  You can view the sale catalog by clicking on the catalog cover to the left of this text.  You can order a sale catalog thru this website or by contacting Sale Manager Mike Jones 706-773- 3612.

34th Annual Southwest Virginia
Performance Tested Bull Sale
Wytheville, Virginia
Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Noon
Sale Manager:  Dr. Scott Greiner
Auctioneer:  Col. Mike Jones

The crowd was a little smaller this year and we had a few too many bulls for the folks on the seats.  Over 400 cattlemen in attendance and 139 bulls.  Past years has always packed the house with some 500 people and the 2012 auction was a record setter with a $3,400 average of 140 bulls.  This year the top 110 bulls sold really strong but then the last 30 struggled to get a premium resulting in an over-all average down several hundred dollars from last year.  Same excellent quality in all breeds, just one of those years when a few too many bulls brought the average down.  Strong demand for the 27 bred heifers that averaged $1,580.00.

These 12 sons of Finale will be popular sale day!  The bulls will sell in catalog order and are listed in sire groups.  Last year, the Upgrade sons caused quite a stir as they commanded top prices and again this year an excellent offering of SimAngus sons of Upgrade will be featured.  20 purebred Simmental bulls will sell plus 4 really special Angus bulls. A powerful offering of replacement females will follow the selling of the bulls.  The female offering just gets stronger and deeper each year and this will certainly be the best offering to date!  Tremendous offering of open heifers ready for immediate breeding and an excellent offering of bred heifers representing the aggressive breeding program at Gibbs Farms.  Order a catalog thru this website or contact anyone at Gibbs (Gordon’s phone 336-469-0489).
